TUCA Summer Picnic

Date: Sunday, August 28, noon to 7 PMPlace: Norfolk Botanical Gardens Cost: Free

We invite all TUCA members and friends to the annual TUCA summer picnic. This year we have a special treat - the picnic will be held at the famous Norfolk Botanical Garden, which has millions of flowers, train and boat tours, and other attractions. A new treat for kids this year is a pirate ship and a treasure hunt through the 155-acre park.

Admission is normally $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors and $4.00 for children 4 and over; however, TUCA is getting a group rate and picking up the tab. All you have to do when driving through the gate is identify yourself as a member of the Tidewater Ukrainian Cultural Association on the way to the picnic, and you will be admitted free of charge.

As in the past, TUCA will provide the main picnic fare - hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, buns, condiments, charcoal for the grill, paper plates and plastic ware. However, we request that attendees provide other picnic goodies, such as potato, macaroni, and three bean salads, baked beans and anything else your imagination dictates. Do not forget your favorite drinks!

Please note that the Norfolk Botanical Garden is like a State Park and does not permit alcoholic beverages.

The picnic will take place in the Picnic Shelter, which is to the left of the entrance gate and contains all facilities including rest rooms.

Directions to the Norfolk Botanical Garden are as follows: From Rte I-64 take Exit 279, Norview Avenue and Norfolk International Airport. Merge onto Norview Avenue. Proceed approximately 1 mile, then turn left onto Azalea Garden Road. After about 0.6 miles turn right onto Botanical Garden access road. Go through the gate by identifying yourself as a TUCA member going to picnic. We should be in the picnic shelter on the left past the gate.

See you all at the picnic!
